2019 Fifa Women’s World Cup Coming Ever Closer
How Will The Nigerian Women’s Football Team Fair In The 2019 World Cup?
With the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup coming ever closer, we can begin to take a look at some of the teams who will be out on the pitches.
Everything kicks off in June and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top. Here is how we think the Nigerian team will fair.
The team itself are strong and confident and have a lot of power behind them. As a team, they have a history of performing well in tournaments.
They have won the African’s Women’s Championship an amazing 11 times and are also the current reigning champs.
This will give them a much-needed confidence boost and perk-up as they prepare to enter this tournament.
When it comes to the World Cup, they have appeared 8 times previously since 1991. This has also included reaching the quarterfinals in 1999.
They have made similar performances at the Olympics over the years. They are more than ready to take on some of the larger teams out there.
The current squad has many talented players who have made a name for themselves in international football. They play for teams not just in Nigeria but in the UK, Spain, and China to name just a few places.
As individual players, they have many strong names on their squad list. In particular, we think Desire Oparanozie and Asisat Oshoala are two to watch. Oparanozie has played for many different European clubs and the information she could have gathered in her time with them could prove invaluable.
Oshoala was named the top goal scorer in the U-20 Women’s World Cup and she has also been named as the best player in the African Women’s Championship.
A former BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year, she is likely to perform extremely well on the pitch.
In Group A, Nigeria will be facing Norway, South Korea, and France. How will they perform?
Norway has won the World Cup before but they have been on a decline for many years. However, they did manage to break out of their group stage only to get knocked out in the round of sixteen.
South Korea has only qualified for two previous World Cups. In their latest performance in 2015, they reached the round of sixteen too. France are one of the most consistent teams in the competition and they will also have the home team advantage.
If you are at all interested in sports betting, placing a few bets down on who you think will make it out of the Group Stage could net you a nice little bonus.
Overall, we would predict that Nigeria will make it out of their group stage with France. The players are ready to take the stage and do what they do best.
We cannot wait to see how they fare as the World Cup comes ever closer.
Do you think they will do well?
They have all the makings of a great team, let’s see them smash it!
