A section of the Modern Market in Makurdi, Benue State was on Tuesday destroyed by fire and goods worth millions of naira were affected.
The fire, according to a trader in the market, Madam Ngozi started around 7.30pm.
“I had left when someone called me that there was a fire outbreak in the market; I rushed there,” she said.
According to reports many traders were seen making frantic efforts to remove their goods.
Officials of the state fire service were said to have been mobilised to the scene
Recall that fire had also on January 2 razed Wadata Market in Makurdi town and destroyed goods worth N1bn.
Affected by the fire were 600 lockup shops and open stalls housing grains, poultry and fish products, among others.
